The initiative, funded by WK Kellog Foundation and The National Development Agency, has already reached over 50 clinics over various districts in the Easter Cape, such as: Alfred Nzo, Zululand, and KwaZulu-Natal. Primary target groups for this aid are malnourished children, pregnant mothers, and other households that are at risk nutritionally. Through volunteer services and community involvement, the program has managed to tap into technical expertise at the local level and helped a multitude of families take charge of their own sustenance. Fencing, seedlings and necessary garden tools have been received from the Departments of Health and Agriculture and other sectors of the project. With the success of the program thus far, the provincial health departments of the currently covered areas have planned the roll out the project in all their adjoining regions.
